Rooted in South Asia, Sagar focuses on the languid ease of rural life and the marginalized communities in the form of fiction, documentary and hybrid narrative sometimes with the element of magical realism, which is drawn from the very culture and mythology.
Sagar co-wrote and played a primary character in the feature film Aamis (Ravening) (2019), which screened and won awards in many festivals worldwide following its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.Sagar’s short film ‘An Afternoon with a Stranger (2022)’ was part of the official selection of festivals including the Cinergo, International Festival Signes de Nuit (Paris), Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Sugar Loaf, Bangladesh International Short Film Festival 2023.
His feature film project was selected for the Writers INK Feature Film Screenwriting Lab in 2022. Additionally, his documentary project was part of the 2023-24 PSBT Doc_Commune cohort. In 2024, he participated in the Interaction Doc:Workshop in Serbia, further expanding his expertise in documentary filmmaking. His current documentary project 'The Visitors' is in the final stage of post-production which is supported by FICA and the winner of the Himalayan Creative Practitioner Grant 2025.
