The behind the scenes of creating and the different roles that work harmoniously together to deliver quality work fascinate me. I have written creatively since joining First Story- a writing collective. Sharing work with writers inspired me to include them in two published anthologies. I loved creating narratives and the audience's varying interpretations. I realised I enjoyed being part of stories which led me to volunteer for school musicals as an usher, stagehands and assistant. Working on musicals (Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors) I learnt how important each role was in delivering a final product. When studying English Literature, I enjoyed the discussion essays in which a debate occurred as I would consider multiple viewpoints. After leaving sixth form (AAA) I decided to take my time to think about the future.
Being an office runner at Studio Lambert I audited stock, assisted executives and maintained the office. Watching producers and being able to see the creative process in real time encouraged me to search for opportunities. I began work as a production runner on The Jonathan Ross Show, experiencing the chaotic excitement of a shoot day was unforgettable. My main tasks involve assisting talent and keeping them satisfied (while maintaining professionalism) and helping the production with whatever they need. The variations of tasks to do highlighted my love of adapting and learning in new scenarios. Being able to see the behind the scenes of creating that would reach so many audiences was satisfying, and further solidified my desire to learn more about the film industry. Most recently, I work at RSA films as an office runner, which gives me many opportunities to learn and contribute. My main roles include office upkeep and helping executives. I enjoy research as I am eager to learn about new things in depth and find new information. My curiosity also led me to learn Adobe Indesign, as directors can ask for help with their pitches and I want to be as useful as I can. I am also proficient in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint, having used these for years. In 2017 I wrote a performance about sexism in the media that myself and a group performed at The Royal Court Theatre to the public. Being part of the writing, directing and production of this and then showing our final performance to people felt rewarding. The subject was difficult and required a lot of research into patterns and expectations from the media. I enjoyed contributing research and planning to the end result.Although I am not cemented with my plans in the future I know it is in the film industry, and I am eager to hear from professionals who have a deeper knowledge of options.
I am drawn to casting and research, due to them both being based on getting to know people and finding out information to result in a more detailed, captivating piece of entertainment.
