'Rock, Paper, Scissors', Directed by Franz Böhm, is the graduation short film from the NFTS, which played at the BFI Southbank in February 2024.
'Ocras' was an official selection at BAFTA Qualifying Bolton International Film Festival 2023 and was long-listed for "Best Student Short Film", "Best British Director", & "Best Production Design" at The British Short Film Awards 2023. 'Kathy & Jeb' was nominated for the Méliès d'argent award at the Lund International Fantastic Film 2023.
Before the NFTS, Hayder worked in the production department for feature films and High-End TV dramas, with credits including 'Blue Story', 'Brian & Charles', 'Everybody's Talking About Jamie' and 'County Lines'. He's taken a ground-up approach, starting as a runner/driver, progressing to a production coordinator/manager for Feature & HETV and producing short films, music promos and commercials.
Hayder is now developing and producing a slate of short, feature & TV projects under his production label 'Who's Here? Productions'.
From a background of homelessness as a youth, Hayder is inspired by how people's lives impact their sense of self & perspective and how using film as escapism can help those enduring hardships. His focus is the exploration of complex relationships & multi-faceted characters, challenging audiences' everyday perspectives.
