Having spent two years living in Svalbard, I've gained a good understanding of the area and honed my skills in challenging, remote conditions. My experience in the arctic includes several multi day expeditions on snowmobiles and skis looking for wildlife and several months of sailing around Svalbard and Antarctica as a guide in search of wildlife opportunities.
I also have a lot of experience working with marine mammals, both as a scientist and filmmaker, spending thousands of hours on the water with whales over the last 12 years. And recently, I have been filming all species of whales in the St-Lawrence Estuary for a short documentary for a museum.
I have worked with terrestrial subjects as well, doing my masters on mountain goats in the Canadian Rockies. For this project, I have spent eight months in a remote part of the Rocky Mountains leading a team of three, problem solving technical issues, working in harsh weather conditions, and getting intimate knowledge of ungulate behaviour and how to approach them. I have also been working on a documentary about reindeers in a changing Arctic climate over the last 6 months.
Besides field skills and wildlife knowledge, I'm a qualified drone operator, with over 1000 hours of flight logged using DJI Mavics, Inspire, and Matrice 300 around whales and other wildlife. I also have a fair amount of experience with long lens work and remote-operated gyrostabilized rigs from boats.
