A New Yorker settled in London with US & UK passports & twenty years of directing/producing/editing experience (BBC/Netflix/C4/PBS/CNN/Arte/etc), specialising in feature docs but with a recent focus on series and drama-doc scenes. I've directed seven feature docs, five for BBC's Storyville strand, all well-reviewed and with major festival premieres, four released in cinemas, and also a wide range of series & hours. My work is character-driven and has been praised for its sense of humour and sensitivity. I've done work in a variety of genres (current affairs, science, arts/culture, politics, and sport) in a variety of styles for Netflix, BBC, PBS, CNN Originals, Discovery, Arte, and many other channels in the US and internationally, and I have filmed around the world. Recently did some drama-doc directing and keen to do more. I started as an ob-doc director but have moved into more creative and retrospective work, with drama, high-end studio shoots, and archive. I've interviewed all kinds of people with sensitivity, including world-class politicians, scientists, and professionals; victims of torture and human trafficking; children and teens; refugees; rescue workers; refugees; and horse trainers (and a few horses). I am happy working in existing formats or developing ideas from scratch, enjoy working in big teams and being very independent in equal measure. I am a proficient editor and a confident self-shooter, have a track record of receiving funded development, and have executive produced a range of work. I've also done documentary judging (including Emmys, Griersons, and One World Media).
