I have always loved Film and television but I would never have guessed that I would get my start in the industry in Locations. While it was not a department that I knew lots about, I really enjoy location work and I look forward to progressing through the department over the coming years. I am, therefore, working towards my long-term goal of becoming a location manager by securing more work as a marshal or location trainee/assistant. What would I bring to these roles? Whether it is a day on set or in one of my personal projects, I always strive to be approachable and optimistic no matter the task or time-scale. I also understand that an effective department is one that is good at communicating and sociable, qualities that I demonstrated as a founding member of the University of Glasgow Filmmaking Society.I was first hired by responding to a letter drop about filming taking place on my road. Having worked on exciting High-end TV and Film projects for Apple TV+ and Paramount+, I understand how professional sets function. I also understand the importance of striking a balance between having a clear plan every day and being adaptable when things go wrong (things can always go wrong). So, it is my initiative, logistical thinking and problem solving skills that I intend to build on over the next few months/years of my development.While locations is mainly a logistical department, I am keen to keep making personal projects that develop my creativity and incorporate knowledge gained from my time on set. That is why I have co-founded my own Glasgow based video production house, RATIO FILMS. This will allow me to keep producing short films, provide videography services and build lasting relationships with every client.There is always much to learn and I am keen to collaborate as many filmmakers and creatives as possible. With that in mind, I have decided to start my career in Glasgow and to build a network of creative, likeminded filmmakers of all abilities. Read Less
