James is an outstanding editor I've worked with across 6 or 7 documentary singles and factual series over the last 5 years. He's exceptional with music and pacing but his best talent is storytelling. Time and again, he's made editing look easy, quickly condensing often complex and meandering rushes, into a fine tuned engaging story. He's cut many sequences solo whilst I'm out on shoot for days or weeks at a time. We've cut self-shot, rig, crew & even some user-generated footage together and he's never fazed by the job in hand. He's also a good laugh, essential when you're stuck in a small room together for months on end. I try and book him every time.
