I’m an experienced Script Editor/Script Producer with a real passion for storytelling and working with writers, both established and emerging talent. In my current role as a Script Editor on BBC1 daytime drama, Doctors, I have built a reputation as someone who is particularly strong at building relationships with writers, understanding story and problem solving. As a result I have been afforded a lot of creative freedom and have responsibility for sourcing and commissioning my own writers before managing and supporting them through the fast paced production process. 

They say that if you can do CDS you can do anything. Given the variety of storylines, subject matter, writers and creative challenges on Doctors, I agree and feel my commitment to the series is testament to my stamina, creativity, and ability to find my way through any editorial knot, block or issue. 

During my time at the BBC I have undertaken attachments to Shakespeare & Hathaway and Father Brown, but have always returned to my home on Doctors. I have loved my time on the series and I’m aware that this may appear to be a long time to spend on a single production, but I’ve thrived on the challenge and pressure to constantly discover and develop new talent, and find fresh and exciting ways to tell stories within very tight production parameters.  Being in my home town of Birmingham has also been important to me and, whilst I’ve had many approaches over the years, working away from home wasn’t an option while my children were young. 

Now Doctors is coming to the end of its final series, it’s time for me to transfer my skills to a new project.  I am able to consider projects further afield now, and come with a proven track record for managing people - up and down - as well as finding solutions which are innovative, creative and satisfactory to multiple parties, often with conflicting ideas. I would love to spend time in Development and have lots of ideas. I can also confidently Script Edit/Produce on busy productions and can provide references from the Execs and Producers I have worked with who regard me as a valuable member of the editorial team.  Read Less
