Legally qualified (LLB, PgDL), Lynden entered the music industry in 2003 working in compilation music licensing at EMI Records before cutting her teeth in music clearances for film and TV. Repertoire included the EMI, Virgin and Mute catalogues featuring artists such as David Bowie, the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kate Bush, Queen, Nick Cave and the Beach Boys. She also worked proactively on campaigns such as Kahlua, Adidas, Ford Focus and Vodafone, as well as films such as Children of Men.
In 2009, Lynden joined both the Domino Recording and Publishing companies to establish a brand new, proactive synchronisation service negotiating, licensing and procuring film, TV advertising and games licenses for the Domino repertoire including revered artists and songwriters such as Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Four Tet, Hot Chip, Steven Severin, Jesus and Mary Chain, Jon Hopkins, Kae Tempest, Mica Levi and My Bloody Valentine.
Whilst best known for strategic licensing for commercial songs, Lynden has also managed bespoke work. Score work includes Jon Hopkins ‘Monsters’ (2010 dir. Gareth Edwards), Bill Ryder-Jones ‘Piggy’ (2012 dir. Kieron Hawkes, starring Martin Compston and Paul Anderson), Luke Abbott ‘the Goob’ (2014 dir. Guy Myhill), Anna Calvi ‘Peaky Blinders S5 (dir. Anthony Byrne), Anna Calvi ‘The Souvenir Parts I and II (2019 dir. Joanna Hogg), Julia Holter ‘Pure’ (Channel 4 TV show), Nathan Micay ‘Industry’ (2020 Dir. Ed Lilly) as well as major brand commercials including Formula E, Nissan, Nespresso, Gucci, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Clients include Universal, Warner Bros, Working Title, C20 Fox, MGM, Sony, Netflix, Blueprint Pictures, Amazon, HBO and Disney.
A futurist, Lynden is known for sharing her understanding of new 3D game engine driven technologies in VR, Gaming and immersive sound and has now developed a roster of engineers and composers with an understanding of programming for complex playback in cinema, full dome and metaverse. This manifests in her annual symposium, Spatial Sound. A member of Full Dome UK and IMERSA, live and experiencial work includes Tie Your Laces at RENDR 2023, Expo 2020 (2021-22), Frameless, London (launched 2022) and Sonos ‘Portrait of British Songwriting’ (2015). Lynden represents Chipzel, BAFTA nominated games composer and together have been developing motion sensor propositions using Unity and Unreal.
Whilst MD at HotHouse Music (2021-2023), operating from Abbey Road Studios, Lynden immediately started working on PISTOL (MINIM FOR DISNEY+) directed by Danny Boyle produced by Tracey Seaward, which featured over 65 notable commercial clearances and live set performances. Lynden picked up supervision for BANSHEES OF INISHERIN (Blueprint Pictures for Searchlight 20th Century Fox) featuring live performances by Brendan Gleeson directed by Martin McDonagh. Lynden assisted esteemed supervisor Ian Neil on LOCKWOOD & CO (Netflix) directed by Joe Cornish based on Jonathan Stroud’s book of the same title.
In 2023, Lynden founded Cinetronica – a music supervision and project management company offering support from pre to post production. Lynden has experience of score recording throughout the UK and Europe working with studios such as Abbey Road, RAK and Air. As a member of the Music Manager’s Forum and contacts at the Ivors Academy, MU and the Association of Independent Music. Lynden has special access to a diverse rang of musicians. Work with heritage pop-up Olympic Studios Records keeps her in touch with real music fans and in touch with music archive.
Responsibilities on projects include
· Budget control for source and composed music
· Music rights clearance and research from pre to post production
· Creative Music Search from commercial music, library and music archives
· Music team sourcing (composer, musicians, studios, orchestrators, conductors, programmers, copyists, music editors and engineers)
· Contractual negotiations, NDAs and MU PACT Agreements
· Session planning and pre-record coordination (see score coordination above)
· Preparing rehearsals for on-set
· Soundtrack releases
· On set liaising with sound, props and costume.
· Delivering cue sheets eg: CueTrak Read Less
