For the last year I have been a Creative Executive at Moonbug working on Little Baby Bum, overseeing the development and production of the new evolved look. In that time we made 104 (!)2 minute episodes, my role included overseeing the planning and execution of all 104 from ideation to pitching to scripts, music, storyboards and animation to masters and SFX, with a truly exceptional group of artists and production team. As Creative Director at Fly High Stories my focus has been to develop children’s content that fits with our company brand of Learning through Laughing that is also useful and joyful. We began as an international touring children’s theatre company in 2019 but when Covid-19 struck, I quickly began to reframe our original slate with my co founder Rachel Barnett-Jones, to meet online audience demand without compromising on the quality or excellence of the work itself. Some of the work We developed and I directed included online games, a tv web series, audio plays and digital threatrw shows. For 6 years I worked for the National Theatre as a Mentor Director on their Connections Festival. Travelling the length and breadth of the UK, i worked with young people and their teachers/directors as they staged a brand new play from that year’s portfolio, feeding back to the National Theatre through reports of the work. I usually oversaw two week long festivals at large regional houses (30 participate each year) where the young companies stage their production on a large stage. I have thrived on fire-fighting technical emergencies, directing workshops and overseeing hundreds of young people, technical staff and creative teams under intense time pressure.I have over 20 years of practical experience in theatre, audio, short film, and animation as director and producer. I am used to fast turn-arounds, and making the work happen, ensuring excellence at all levels, keeping to budget and deadlines without sacrificing quality or fun.
