My interest in the industry stems from my childhood where I grew up working on film and TV sets after being selected for a children’s film agency. I was fortunate to work on high end TV and box office films such as The Golden Compass; The Inbetweeners; Silent Witness; and playing a body double in Son of Rambo.
Building on my experience as a Junior Lighting Designer for my local theatre company I received a grant to go to The Brit School to study a National Diploma in Technical Theatre Arts. Here I honed many key skills within various departments, from production, costume and set design, lighting, sound and construction. I learnt how to coordinate a production including sourcing of materials, hiring of equipment and budgeting the projects in their entirety, leading to the successful showing of several theatre productions.
I then worked in the financial sector for 8 years where I have been promoted from admin roles through to Client Services Specialist up to Business Researcher and Financial Advisor roles. I believe my background in financial advice and client services has built the foundations for a career change into production. I have gained many transferable skills such as being a team player, working under pressure, and organisation through efficient time management. At Masterplan Financial Services I have proactively improved business critical systems and process through innovative problem solving to ensure admin tasks are processed correctly, efficiently and on time. I have proven my communicational skills through winning and maintaining business through well prepared client meetings. I can work under pressure often thinking on my feet in client meetings in response to ad-hoc questions. I have a meticulous attention to detail, ensuring advice that I have given is compliant with FCA regulations, Provider guidelines and suitable for my clients. All great projects rely on the cohesive hard work of the team behind them, I regularly demonstrated great teamwork at Beaufort Financial by working with the Financial Planning Department to collate documentation to prepare the Advisors for their client meetings.
An entry level role opens the door to becoming part of a great team within an exciting and fast paced industry. I would flourish in the opportunity to play a significant role in the production of the great body of work for many big clients. Although I have little previous experience in a production role, I believe I should be strongly considered due to my passion for the industry, strong transferable skills and enthusiasm. From building my own gaming PC to organising my own wedding, I always apply 100% of my energy to the task at hand and I believe I would be a great asset to the team given the opportunity.
