After attending State University of New York at Fredonia, he decided to pack his bags and make the trek west to the land of the stars. Once in Hollywood, Ney cut his teeth behind the scenes on television’s SOLID GOLD and THE TONIGHT SHOW.
Always eager to hone his skills, Ney quickly climbed the ranks, becoming Director of Photography. Shooting for various shows, including the lauded series, and HARD COPY; afforded him the opportunity to be on the prestigious Paramount Studios lot for over a decade. Those years of proximity to so many exciting productions fortified Ney’s hunger to branch out to film, while providing a thorough crash course of both the film and television industries.
Since expanding his repertoire to directing, Peter Ney has enjoyed driving many network and cable shows to success. Ney soon became one of the top non-scripted directors in Hollywood. That status snagged him a nomination for a DGA award in 2013, along with a bevy of credits, including FACE OFF, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, TABATHA’S SALON TAKEOVER, FOOD NETWORK STAR, THE PICKUP ARTIST, ROSEANNE’S NUTZ, LAST COMIC STANDING, PARIS HILTON’S MY NEW BFF, HGTV DESIGN STAR and many others.
One of Ney’s most recent projects, “SNACK vs CHEF” soared to #1 on the Netflix Best on the US list, outlasting many competing food shows.
But now, the dues are paid and the belt is notched. Ney is suited up to pair his experience with that initial dream: Time to make a movie. He’s thrilled for the opportunity to bring “3” to life, to share this fantastic story and team with the world.
Peter’s strengths are working with actors and celebrities to make them feel comfortable, so that they are at ease in front of the camera. Having extensive experience behind the camera has given him an edge, especially when dealing with time sensitive productions, and time restrictions to get the best quality production. Peter is married with 3 college kids and currently resides in Austin, Texas. He is represented by APA.
