As well as producing features, he has also produced several television documentaries for leading broadcasters, including the BBC, ARTE, Sky, and ZDF.Mahzar produced the narrative feature Zinda Bhaag, which was submitted to the 86th Academy Awards (the first Pakistani film to have been sent in over fifty years).The film screened at over twenty festivals including the Locarno International Film Festival, before enjoying an international theatrical release.As a documentary producer, Mazhar's credits include Defusing the Human Bomb (BBC/ARTE), The Good Man of Karachi (ARTE), and India’s Frontier Railways (BBC Four). His company, Matteela Films, produced the documentary short Nusrat has left the building... but when?, which screened at the IDFA Rotterdam, Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Sheffield International Documentary Festival, and in the BFI National Film Theatre. Mazhar has also worked as a documentary director. His short documentary Nar Narman about a queer, Urdu-language Pakistani poet (made with the BBC World Service) screened as part of BFI Flare (formerly the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival). Other works have been awarded the Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund (associated with the Busan Film Festival) and the Prince Klaus Fund.As a producer and designer of media campaigns, Mazhar's clients have included the British Council, UKAid, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, USAID, the International Rescue Committee, Creative Associates, UNICEF, and the Asia Foundation. His 2022 campaign for Fatima Fertilisers has more that 12 million views online.Prior to his work as a Producer and Line Producer he worked with the BBC World Service in London for 11 years.He has also trained as a 2D animator, and is currently developing an animated series based on climate change.
