Began career in TV as a promo-producer at Granada TV, then wrote and directed on comedy & LE shows with Caroline Aherne, Paul Whitehouse, Charlie Higson, John Thompson, Craig Ferguson and Dave Spikey. Moved into directing documentaries. Briefly sidestepped into teaching as senior lecturer in media studies and documentary for HND, BA and MA degrees at Salford University for two years. Returned to TV directing for lifestyle and factual shows, then moved into scripted comedy and drama. Appointed Head of Scripted Development for Pioneer TV developing fact.based drama, plus factual and fact.ent development. After a 2-year career interruption due to physical illness, returned to producing & directing on True-crime dramadocs in the US and Canada. Since the pandemic, continued to work across unscripted and scripted.
Has produced/directed over 200+ hours of TV and scripted 30+ hours of audio drama. Experienced and highly-skilled across many genres from drama to docs and everything in between from archive-shows, branded-content, docudrama, educational, factual, fact.ent, fact.drama, lifestyle, light.ent, historical, obdoc, narrative comedy, science, scripted reality, sketch, sitcom, stand-up shows and True-crime. Quiz shows and natural history are the only 2 genres not done - as of yet. Admittedly, this is eclectic but testament to the deep understanding of the craft of film-making and a passion for TV.
Most recently, adapted own BBC drama ‘Cavity’ into the musical feature film, 'The Invisibles'. Due for release later this year.
