I have recently completed my Honours Degree in Broadcast Production at the University of the West of Scotland in Ayr and am looking to find full-time work outside of the industry in which I am currently employed. I have been working in hospitality management for over a decade and I believe that my career in this field has equipped me with an arsenal of transferrable skills that would see me shine in almost any role that was offered to me and I believe that the skills learned throughout my years of study would strengthen my potential as a prospective employee even further.
During my time as General Manager at Slouch Bar & Kitchen I was employed to oversee every single aspect of the business and daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
· Payroll
· Organising staff rotas
· Writing drinks and food menus
· Organising events
· Liaising with professional clients (brand representatives, DJs, bands etc)
· Managing social media accounts
· Marketing for the bar
· Completing weekly forecasts and adhering to sales targets set by the company owner
Throughout my years of study at the UWS I became proficient in the field of content creation in the form of audio programming and podcasts. I also wrote, produced, directed and edited a ten minute comedy short-film entitled ‘Pish’ (https://youtu.be/eiNRsUjebOY?si=F7Q0CCqqOxNtAdMZ) for use as my final Creative Research Project. Throughout the creation of various pieces of audio and video programming I learned skills that I believe would see me in good stead in any future field of employment such as:
· Adhering to strict deadlines
· Organising an entire filming crew
· Gaining approval for use of venues as filming locations
· Using Adobe Creative suite programs such as Audition, Photoshop and Premiere Pro
Whilst managing the record store side of Strip Joint I gained further skills that I feel would further support my future career in the broadcast production industry. These include:
· Meticulously cataloguing and stock controlling an inventory of thousands of vinyl records
· Arranging, updating and maintaining the online store
· Organising ticketed live performances by bands and artists to be used as promotional vehicles for new releases
· Liaising with bands and record labels in regards to stocking and promoting upcoming releases
Most recently I have been working as a Camera Operator on pro-wrestling shows promoted by Insane Championship Wrestling which have been streamed live to an audience of millions via the popular streaming platform ‘Triller’.
I have historically been a valued and popular employee who brings a positive energy to the workplace and carries a work ethic that is completely unrivalled. I am easily coachable and believe that I would become an instantaneous key player in any team that I was made part of.
