I am a North Lanarkshire based Runner aspiring to work in production management and I wanted to drop you a line as I’m keen to be considered for any upcoming positions you may have. I have a full clean driving licence and am looking for Runner/Driver roles to gain experience to allow me to progress further within my career.
Most recently I have finished filming Antiques Road Trip for STV in a Runner/Driver position. I learned to plan ahead and communicate more efficiently to help the filmmaking process run smoother for everyone involved. I also learned not just how to use a lot of the equipment used when filming, but how to maintain it properly. Each day I had to check the equipment for any defects and also ensure they were ready for using the following shoot day.
For education I finished with a BA Hons in Film & Media at Stirling University, graduating with an award-winning documentary to my name. During my final year at university, me and a few other students created a documentary following the story of Scotland's only amputee football team. The documentary won RTS Scotland’s Best Student Documentary award and was nominated for best student film overall. We also received a nomination in the Factual Award category at the Learning on Screens awards 2023 in London where we did not win but received a special commendation.
I own a Sony A7 IV mirrorless camera and a drone which I use to build up a portfolio of freelance work. I have filmed short adverts for charities, such as Street Assist and Charity Heroes and have filmed for local pubs within West Lothian. I have also helped many Personal Trainers to create videos for their clients and have more recently put myself forward, offering to film small weddings to help build up my experience and equipment before tackling larger events.
During my degree, I successfully set up my own ironing business which has been running for 4 years now. I started the company to break away from contracted hours and focus on my studies whilst still making a wage. I’ve gained lots of experience through working for myself and have met many interesting people along the way. That being said, I also enjoy the dynamics of working in a team.
