In 2001, the first season of The Amazing Race premiered, Li was fascinated by this format. As ordinary people have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to explore the world; moreover, and a show could change contestants' lives forever. Like no other, he kept track of every aspect of the Reality TV series. As the Reality TV industry got stronger in the early 2000s, he was one of the youngest Reality TV active members in Mainland China. When Survivor China (2007) was filmed in Jiangxi, he managed a team to visit and have an inside look at the production. An American Survivor fan page even covered this story.
His enthusiasm was seen by the Executive Producer of The Amazing Race China Rush, Xia Jing, who offered him a career as a segment producer of Supernanny China. Later, he continued to work for "The Amazing Race" franchise and other licensed formats such as "China's Next Top Model" and "Big Brother China."
With the experience of outdoor adventure types of reality series, Li got invited to co-lead an advance team of "Go Fighting!" (2015), a top 3 highest rating variety series in China. Throughout its first four seasons, this ever-changing-format series with different gameplay in every single episode allowed Li to produce more creative content and manage a crew in overall production in a short amount of time.
In 2019, Li joined Have Fun Media and became the co-executive producer of "CHUANG 2020" and "CHUANG 2021" (Produce 101 China franchise), the NO.1 Chinese boy/girl group talent show in China. When Covid-19 struck the variety show industry in the spring of 2020, Li made the first-ever Covid protocol guidelines for "CHUANG 2020" which became the first variety show to resume production after the outbreak of pandemic with over 1500 covid-free crew members and audiences on set.
Today, Li is a freelance senior producer, dedicating himself to making more connections between China and overseas production and bringing the reality competition series back to Mainland China viewers in the second decades of his career.
