 Francesca is an original made-in-Italy screenwriter. She was born in Milan, but grew up in a small town surrounded by nature. Thanks to her love for animals, she soon started what would become a more than fulfilling career in competitive horse riding. This sport taught her discipline, courage and tenacity, strengths that she carries with her into her profession as a filmmaker.

With a background in classical studies, she moved back to Milan, where she took a degree in Communication, Media and Advertising at IULM University and, after a year as a teacher, she flew to Canada, where she got a degree in Writing for Film, TV & Video Games at Vancouver Film School.

Always surrounded by artists, she feels a constant need to put her creativity on the page. She moves across stages and sets (always tripping on cables, but never falling), learning the art of direction until she steps behind the camera to finally shout the notorious “action” for the first time with the horror short film Sight, written, directed and produced by her.

She worked as a TV author specialising in art documentaries for the Italian national channel La7 and for the private channel Sky Arte.

Today, she is an independent author and producer, still primarily focused on documentary filmmaking, while also developing creative independent short films . Francesca has an eclectic range of genres and she embraces them all with a sparkle of dark humour: from period feature films to horror survival video games, to animated comedy TV pilots.

Producing her own work has taught her how essential it is, as an artist, to deliver a meaningful message. What she loves most about screenwriting is the unique opportunity it offers to explore life situations, dive into characters’ minds, and travel through all the possible worlds her imagination can create.

For her, writing is a passion, storytelling a powerful tool, and the big screen the perfect medium. Read Less
