My name is Tallulah and I am a first-class graduate from the University of Warwick, obtaining a Bachelor of Art in classical civilisation in 2022, and am currently a postgraduate at the same institution studying towards a Master of Art in Visual and Material Culture of Ancient Rome, concluding in September 2023. I am actively pursuing a career in journalism, reporting, documentary making and primarily presenting, with the ambition to one day present my own documentaries. I have considerable experience as a screen actor (https://www.spotlight.com/9118-3420-8800) , understanding the inner-workings of television, able to take direction and execute a vision, as well as experience creating and producing my own videos, making niche topics accessible and digestible. I am passionate about making subjects relatable, sharing knowledge and interacting with the wider public, maintaining a fresh and youthful outlook. I believe I can breathe new life into the ancient world and expand its audience and with my master’s level knowledge and skills, I could be the person to bridge the gap between academics with PHD level knowledge, and the television watcher.
Whilst balancing essay deadlines and exams, achieving firsts in all my third-year modules, I completed an award- winning project funded by the university where I brought Classics to the wider world. I filmed interviews with experts and curators and uploaded them on multiple platforms. I posed questions to subject matter experts in a light-hearted and relaxed manner, a technique and ability to promote further discussion the interviewees. Links to all interviews can be found here: https://classicsbytallulah.co.uk . I continued to produce videos by interviewing Warwick Classics Department subject matter experts and continuing to make classics relevant by applying the ancient world to trending topics and discourse.
I am extremely ambitious and driven, constantly seeking ideas and inspiration to help me to pursue my desired career. This determination can be seen through achievements, such as being the first ever student award winner of the Warwick Award for Public and Community Engagement, competing against the whole of Warwick’s student population, as well as representing the university, giving talks to prospective students about opportunities offered. I am an extremely reliable and adaptable individual, priding myself on my exemplary communication skills and drive for excellence. I have represented the university in sports teams, being appointed as President of the largest and most diverse dance society at the university, which encompassed a plethora of responsibilities and skills, including creative and organisational tasks. I am also an experienced and proficient scuba diver (Padi Rescue) and first aider, capable of mastering new skills whilst seeking adventure.
I aspire to present a series on the ancient world utilising my scuba diving to explore the ocean for artefacts. I am studying Italian this year as I am undertaking the two-month long City of Rome module at the British School At Rome so will be keen to use my new-found language skills to communicate with curators and locals. I am interested in examining concepts such as ‘identity’, ‘self-representation’, and ‘society’. I will bring my light-hearted and understanding approach to interviews to convey content in a digestible and down to earth manner. I have many ideas for documentaries that I don’t believe have been seen before and I would love the opportunity to discuss them with you.
I am seeking job opportunities, commencing from September onwards, working behind or in front of the camera and would be grateful if you could keep me in mind for any future projects. I am efficient, flexible and versatile, achieving high standards in every situation, especially when working within complex and time-sensitive environments. I would deliver excellency on any project whilst bringing an energetic and friendly approach. Please alert me to any opening in any field as I would like to gain experience in all areas whenever possible.
