Most recently I co-led the Digital Shortform team at VICE World News, overseeing some of the most popular VICE shows on YouTube, reworked for Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and Twitch. As part of this role I green-lit pitches, oversaw casting, reviewed scripts and cuts at various stages, managed staff and signed off dozens of films of up to 25 minutes in length for YouTube and streaming platforms.
In 2022, VICE World News video drove 572m YouTube video views, a 17% yoy increase and beating our target of 500m. Our London-based team produced films which on average gained more than twice the views of other teams. I personally ran five shows and worked on around 50 films attracting over 75m views.
Prior to VICE I covered international news in various roles for BBC World Online, BBC World Service and BBC World News. I’ve had experience overseeing coverage of global news events, running pan-BBC projects and investigations, and setting up a digital unit covering health and wellness. I helped the BBC pivot to digital and have been trusted to run BBC social accounts, tweeting breaking news to millions, and running live pages during the Arab Spring. In the early days of my career I was based in South Asia, running a website in the Maldives and covering the region from Nepal.
I am passionate about increasing awareness of psychological trauma across the industry and beyond, and supporting those affected. I have a PG Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling and I'm also a member of the UK Psychological Trauma Society (UKPTS). As a manager, I lead teams with a close understanding of stress and relational dynamics and am actively committed to contributing to a healthy, non-toxic workplace where creators feel valued and can work to their full potential.
