Whilst I'm a Series Producer, if possible I also like to direct one or more programmes within the series. I have regularly produced for BBC 2 and 4, ITV and Channel 4, but I have also overseen large-scale drama-doc productions for Sky Atlantic and the History Channel (USA). My work has in the main dealt with historical, political, artistic or religious subjects - ranging from archaeology to the history of landscape, Tudor intrigue to Marilyn Monroe, medical ethics to the history of British science. I have worked with a diverse range of presenters, including Tony Robinson, Joan Bakewell, Nick Crane, Bettany Hughes, Christine Bleakley (Lampard), Richard Dawkins, Jim Al-Khalili, Michael Buerk, James Dyson, Stephen Hawking, Marcus du Sautoy and numerous bishops. I have filmed across the world and managed large and small teams, inexperienced presenters, extended production periods and variable budgets. I have recently completed a series about the archaeology of Saudi Arabia. Before Covid, I had just finished a contract series producing and directing a second archaeology series for Channel 4 about bones! BONE DETECTIVES was in eight parts. Presented by Tori Herridge, It followed in the footsteps of recent archaeological excavations that have discovered bones which pose a number of very puzzling questions. We set out to explain how the bones came to be where they were found and to whom they belonged. TX of the first three eps was in January 2020. The second tranche of five episodes was shown in September of that year. Prior to the bones, I was producing the third series of BRITAIN AT LOW TIDE, a Saturday evening archaeology series for Channel Four, also presented by Tori Herridge. BALT is about the dramatic inter-tidal archaeology to be found around Britain's coasts, everything from abandoned battleships to prehistoric settlements to long forgotten medieval harbours, all wedged in the silt.
