I’ve been working in TV for four years now, across Gallery, Casting, Story and Welfare, and am really enjoying it. I feel like I’ve finally found the career I’m after. Also I think the best thing about working in TV is the people you work with.
I am currently working as a Casting AP on BBC’s 'Sort Your Life Out', part of a two-person casting team, casting six from initial research and outreach through to filming and post filming. I loved the end-to-end casting process, finding strong characters and stories, building relationships with contributors and supporting them throughout the journey, and being on shoot is by far the most rewarding part of the job. I loved this working on 'The Piano', its so fullfiling seeing the contribs persue their dreams.
I’ve also worked as a Gallery Producer on 'GPs Behind Closed Doors', a role I never knew I needed but absolutely love. The fast-paced environment and on-the-spot decision making really suit me. I love working closely with the team, making quick decisions and helping shape the story as it unfolds.
When working on documentaries, I’ve really enjoyed being creative before having a set brief, shaping stories around contributors I’ve found and developing their individual narratives.
What I’d really love is to be part of the whole journey from casting a show and finding the contirbs, through to developing the stories and seeing them come alive in the gallery.
Before working in TV, I was a Nanny and House Manager for an actress, which very much got me used to the TV world and working with talent. I’d love to hear from you!
