I am a Producer/Director whose journey into the film industry has been irregular. My background is unique, I was born in Monrovia, Liberia, and raised in Africa before moving to the UK at the age of 12. I subsequently spent 18 years in the Middle East, and it is these experiences which have likely contributed significantly to my worldview and approach to filmmaking.
My career is marked by a strong entrepreneurial spirit, beginning with a venture into digital content production and Agile project management, which spanned over 25 years. This foundation producing digital marketing content for some of the biggest global brands set the stage for my later pursuit in the film industry. My transition to Producing & Directing film was driven by a deep-seated passion for the medium, leading me to graduate from Brighton Screen and Film School and establish my own film production company, Agility Films.
I have specialised in factual documentaries, and branded content, as well as recently writing and producing a Sci-Fi short drama about AI, starring Amy Beth Hayes (Mr Selfridges, The Entire History of You, Black Mirror) and Polly Maberly (Pride and Prejudice, Foyles War and Muscle), Directed by Bafta long listed, Will Jewell (Concrete Plans, Man in Fear, This Time Next Year) which I believe reveals a versatile skill set and a keen eye for storytelling across different genres.
Interestingly, my journey into content production started at a young age, right after leaving school at 16, I initially produced cinema adverts for local businesses which played on Local Pearl and Dean cinemas, an endeavour that involved the use of 35mm film, before I embarked on producing digital content on CD-ROM and DVD for companies such as BDO Stoy Hayward and The Ford Motor company.
As a self-shooting Producer and Director, I have honed a particular focus on documentary-style filmmaking. My work often involves collaborating with individuals, brands, and charities to tell intimate and emotional stories. This approach is underpinned by my belief in the power of true stories and their ability to inspire and move audiences.
My first film, recognised as a finalist among over 400 entries in the Smiley Charity Film Awards, is a testament to my ability to create impactful narratives. My first feature documentary, focusing on the critical issue of male suicide in collaboration with the suicide prevention charity HIS, further illustrates my commitment to addressing socially relevant topics through his work.
Recently I have Produced and Directed short mini documentaries for World Horse Racing broadcast on various racing TV channels around the world.
I am completely self-sufficient and mobile with Netflix certified Canon cameras and broadcast sound and lighting equipment as well as a Crew Van that enables me to travel Europe with kit and crew for any type of documentary style shoot.
The shoots often use a variety of cameras and methods to develop impactful, eye catching material from drones, mounted GoPro's, underwater cameras as well as traditional multi-camera filming techniques.
My unique style, which combines emotionally driven storytelling, demonstrates a mature sensitivity and a profound understanding of the power of film as a medium to evoke emotions and convey deep-seated truths. My career trajectory and body of work are not only a reflection of my talent and dedication but also an inspiring example of how passion and perseverance can lead to meaningful and influential creations in the world of film.
