An Award-winning writer and director for screen, audio, stage, corporate and interactive. Masterclass presenter and lecturer.FILM His short comedy drama, TINY MAD ANIMALS, adapted from his play, was premiered in London in June 2022 and recently won Best LGBT Short at New Jersey Film Festival. His recently released comedy short, SCREWDRIVER, is soon to be released onto the festival circuit. He has a number of feature scripts in development, including an adaptation of his award-winning, published horror short, MEAT.
TV He's written a number of drama/comedy pilots, including the romantic comedy, OTHER PEOPLE, the sci-ti/comedy, DOPPEL, the recently completed, high-stakes, eight-part continuing drama, EIGHT and his female-led vigilante thriller NEMESIS, all of which are currently being shared with producers.
AUDIO/INTERACTIVE He's currently writing daily episodes of the award-winning children's podcast, "Today with tonies" (289 episodes and counting!). His audio drama, UNTIL THE SKY RUNS OUT OF RAIN, is now available to download online, following a live recording in front of an audience at Ayr's Gaiety Theatre.
His new, Alexa-navigated, interactive audio comedy (a world first) IN THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, as well as his dating-themed video game MERGE (for Panivox), are due for imminent release. He's also working with video game company Expression, devising worlds, characters and storylines for their new title CENTURY. His other produced-during-lockdown project Short Stories for Stressed Grown-Ups recently reaches 100,000 downloads and have been licensed by NHS Wales, Exeter University and the wellbeing app Kindspace.
THEATRE In 2022 he devised, directed and wrote "Stranger Things Have Happened" (for a cast of 15) for Plymouth Barbican, as well as "what if all this is real?" (for Cygnet Theatre, Exeter), which was staged at The Drayton Arms and Jermyn Street Theatre in July, after a brief UK tour. His online, producedduring-lockdown play, BREATHE, also won an OffWestend Award in 2021. BIOG: After his first play won "Script Slam" at the Sherman Theatre 12 years ago, Neil went on to receive Guardian reviews for his plays CUL-DE-SAC and STRAIGHT. He's since written for Jermyn Street Theatre, Riverside Studios, Old Vic Tunnels, Almeida Theatre, The Drayton Arms and Bread & Roses, London, as well as National Theatre Wales, Sherman Theatre, The Other Room and Chapter, Cardiff. He was writer in residence at Theatr Clwyd in 2015.
WORKSHOPS/MASTERCLASSES Following the success of recent digital projects, he presented a masterclass on Interactive Storytelling for the BBC at last year's Hay Festival, and continues to present at various BBC Young Reporters' Festivals across the UK. He's also recently led the Literature at the Vanguard module on the English Literature degree course at Plymouth's Marjon University. CORPORATE
