Much of my prior experience has been on student shorts in the Art Director, Prop Master/Maker, and Set Decorator roles.
I have also been Historical Advisor to several of these shorts.Experience:
-Art Department Assistant on commercial production and Freelance Prop Maker for HETV and Film
- Set decorating all manner of locations contemporary and historical, often on tight budgets; be it First World War dugouts with all the correct ammunition boxes, field telephones etc, or Airport hotel rooms with luggage, boarding passes, brochures etc.
-Creating a growing range of ephemera from all eras including fictional publisher's documents, Second World War permits, replica period photographs, and correspondence both handwritten in everyday or calligraphic styles, or typed using original period typewriters.
-Designing sets (often utilising existing locations) including a section of trench, a 1980s era office, and a 1960s era British Railways compartment coach.
-Carrying out in-depth research into every detail of sets and props, down to the postmarks on letters, the stamping on historical identity documents, the right model of typewriter for a certain time, or military equipment from the World Wars and beyond.
-Dealing with the fast-paced nature of multiple setups in a range of locations, and having to prepare and dismantle them with speed and precision depending on the day's shooting schedule.
-Unpacking props, ensuring they are ordered, kept in good condition, handled with care, ensuring they are packed safely for transit.I am currently based just outside London in St Albans, Hertfordshire, within reach of several major studios, but am also willing to relocate for work, and own a full UK Driving licence, and my own car.
