During my time as Office Manager I hired and managed a team of runners, which allowed me to improve my leadership and communication skills. I not only had to manage my own time, but theirs too, and ensure that all studio related tasks were getting completed to a high standard. I was responsible for general production support throughout a range of different jobs we had going on in the studio, as well organising and hosting various company events, one example included a large cinema screening of a pilot we created, in order to gain commission from Channel 4.
Throughout my time there I was put on and passed the APA Producers Masterclass, and worked on a variety of both short and long form shoots, as my enthusiasm lay in production! Working at Blinkink allowed me to gain a knowledge of such a range of projects, live action, mixed media, and animation, and the longer I worked there, I slowly felt myself looking for ways to work on more shoots, and spent quite a few weekends and holiday days working on various different projects, in roles ranging from Production Assistant to Producer, in order to develop my skills in production further.
I gained my first few producer credits in 2024, working with various directors from the Blinkink roster on their passion projects, as well as working on my first client job, and it gave me the push to make the decision to go freelance, in order to experiment with a wide variety of crew & work. Working as a producer on smaller, lower budget shoots taught me so many things. I thoroughly enjoy the multi-tasking aspect of it and all the different intricacies of preparing for the shoot. Dealing with problems that come along the way, finding a way to solve them and seeing the outcome on the shoot day is something that I find incredibly rewarding. I have a good creative eye which means that I excel at creating different production workflow documents, as well as a wide range of shoot documents.
As Pitch Assistant, the job entailed working with producers, directors, treatment designers, EPs, and other team members to develop pitches for both adverts and music videos. I was the first to do this role at our company, meaning naturally the job came with a whole host of new processes for me to implement, the first being to create a system for the company to track all pitch budgets, freelancer spends etc. I was the point of contact for the pitch team including researchers, storyboard artists, designers etc., and was responsible for coordinating pitch meetings, including scheduling, logistics, note taking, and follow-up, to ensure a seamless execution of pitch presentations!
