I am a freelance documentary filmmaker driven by a passion for using storytelling to create positive social change. In my work, I explore personal experiences and individual narratives as a lens to highlight broader societal issues. Fluent in Urdu, conversational in Punjabi, and proficient in English, I am able to connect with diverse communities and bring authenticity and sensitivity to the stories I tell. I am experienced in handling sensitive information responsibly and with care. My graduation documentary, A Song of Resistance, made during my Master’s course, has been recognised at festivals including the Student Academy Awards, the One World Media Award, and Open City Film Festival.

In April 2024, after graduating, a few friends and I founded Young Creatives, a community that supports emerging artists in the creative industries. As Director, I liaise with partner organisations, lead and oversee the team, and coordinate and organise events. Through this, I have developed skills in leadership, project management, collaboration, community engagement, and strategic planning. This initiative is very close to my heart. Over the past year, we have supported and collaborated with numerous emerging artists through events and projects, and I am excited to continue building a community that nurtures creativity and opportunities for all.

Alongside my filmmaking work, I volunteer as Assistant Director at MTA, a Muslim women-led TV channel. I have created content highlighting the contributions of Muslim women to the UK, broadcast on live TV and online, attracting millions of views.

I am confident in self-shooting and managing all aspects of production, from concept to post-production, including projects requiring sensitive access.
