My name is Somerset McGourty. I'm a 25 year old filmmaker and editor. I am currently finishing a Master's degree in Directing and Producing Science and Natural History at the National Film and Television School. I was born in Scotland and grew up in Sydney, Australia. I have 6+ years experience in videography and editing. I'm proficient in Avid, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. I have worked with brands including Vogue Australia, Samsung, 10 Magazine Australia and more. I worked as a Junior Editor at Channel Nine, Australia from 2019-2021. It was there that I learned to use Avid to create engaging 10 second commercials and small recaps of TV shows. Channel Nine provided me with fundamental knowledge of editing and industry standard workflow. I have experience in shooting with Sony A7, FS7, FX6, along with macro equipment and long lens. At the start of 2022 I decided to travel around the perimeter of Australia for five months.
