My name is Alexandrina Fleming, and I am a Zimbabwean born photographer and filmmaker. My creative work is grounded in collaborations with designers, musicians, social healers and body workers to create content that reveals, engages and empowers. I search for moments that stir, moments that touch, to create imagery that translates the felt human experience.

I am a self-motivated, curious, creative and sensitive individual who works well in collaborative environments. I have been passionate about nature, contemporary art and performance my whole life, and now am looking towards organisations and initiatives who are bridging all three. The beautiful tradition of storytelling is one of a myriad solution we have to the global crisis we find ourselves in. How do we strive to protect a people and a planet that we have no knowledge or care for? Stories, art and design are the perfect vessel to navigate to the heart of people.

I was very fortunate growing up to be surrounded and mentored by a breadth of inspiring and engaging Zimbabwean artists, including Greg Shaw who were constantly revealing the invisible strings connecting landscape, politics and society through their craft. I lead with these foundations in my approach to filmmaking. My background in photography, film and design was strengthened in my ongoing work with NGO’s and small organisations in Zimbabwe who are making tangible differences to the community through intersectional environmentalism.

It was through these experiences that I learnt how powerful visual practice and storytelling can be, when done with humility and reverence. Having worked as a freelance photographer, designer and creative director for approximately six years, I am very familiar with the process of drawing out a concept for analysis and building upon it to create something coherent and communicable.
