I am a specialist factual researcher and assistant producer with qualifications including a PhD in history. I am a team player who also has extensive experience of working independently in high pressure environments. I have a proven ability to source great stories and contributors; to write detailed research briefs and beat sheets; to undertake interviews; to source supporting archive; to sync pull and write scripts; and contribute to the editing process. I have also written several treatments for single documentaries and series submitted to terrestrial TV channels and SVOD’s as well as articles for popular history magazines and academic journals.

An alumnus of the Edinburgh TV Festival ‘TV PhD’ talent scheme, I am a proactive and dynamic self-starter with a passion for informative and accessible storytelling based on rigorous research, fact checking, and the securing of powerful testimonies from contributors. I am highly organised, and bring with me knowledge, skills, experience, and contacts from previous careers as a Registered General Nurse working in various Accident and Emergency departments in London, and as a Health, Safety, and Environmental consultant and manager in the oil and gas industry in the Middle East and Africa.

My production credits include several projects involving highly emotive and emotional testimonies by contributors: underpinning my interactions with potential contributors is clear communication regarding the intent and purpose of my contact and the demonstration of my commitment to their safeguarding. I consequently quickly gained the confidence of interviewees and colleagues on these productions through repeatedly demonstrating my sensitivity, consideration, and support. I have extensive experience of sourcing and engaging with multiple potential contributors: using journalistic techniques to identify, and contact, engaging stories and storytellers through social media and other online sources, personal networks, and engagement with a variety of institutions.
