I recently submitted my PhD thesis (University of Edinburgh) about the impact of whale-watching activities on humpback whales in North Iceland. Through this, I co-founded and currently co-direct Whale Wise, a UK registered charity that aims to advance marine mammal conservation through research and engagement. Within this, I have created and manage a diverse range of research projects in Iceland, the UK and Svalbard; and contribute to various engagement projects, from VR education to an Icelandic film festival, amateur documentaries and local public events.Alongside my role as charity director, I am looking to work in wildlife filmmaking, having discovered a passion for communicating conservation messages through documentaries. My skills are well-suited to researcher and coordinator roles: I am experienced in identifying conservation problems for scientific research, planning extended research expeditions in remote regions, the logistical challenges that come with this and coordinating teams of volunteers. I have an in-depth knowledge of marine mammals and the polar oceans, and am well connected with marine scientists.
