I am a freelance journalist/writer and emerging podcast producer with many years of experience writing for international publications, including Deutsche Welle and the Guardian UK. I am keen to use my research skills as a journalist to support documentary film productions. Since June 2023, I have been taking part in short training seminars run by FilmTT, the agency designated by the Trinidad and Tobago Government to provide training for locals interested in working on international film and TV productions. Last year, I completed advanced training in story research while on an IDEA scholarship at Transart Institute's Academy for Creative Practice, April-June 2022. My work as a journalist/independent producer has received support from the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers and from the National Geographic Society's COVID-19 Emergency Fund for Journalists. I believe my journalism research skills are transferable and would be very useful in researching stories for factual TV and film productions. Recently, I completed the mentee programme of the autumn 2022 cohort of the ScreenCraft Works, UK, mentorship programme and benefited from the guidance of an experienced UK audio professional who is Head of Audio at his company.
