Andrew’s interest in outdoor living and adventure started at a very young age while foraging for mussels with his grandfather, and later with his father who taught him how to catch mackerel and sea bass off the South Gower Coast from an ancient (and slightly leaky) canvas and wood kayak, These early experiences sowed the seeds of enthusiasm for a life of adventure, wilderness living skills, history, and love for the natural world.
At the age of 19 Andrew participated on a Raleigh International Expedition to Malaysia, where he had his first experience of living with the indigenous Orang Asli people of the Cameron Highlands.
Andrew is one of the UK’s leading Bushcraft and Survival instructors, founding his survival and bushcraft school Dryad Bushcraft in 2004. He specialises in training for individuals and groups in practical skills such as fire lighting, safe tool handling, water purification, natural navigation, wild food foraging and other wilderness survival and primitive living skills.
