I have a versatile skill set which I've developed through a variety of working environments, such as managing a retail shop, front of house for an independent art gallery, working in the Craft & Unit departments on Film & TV sets, Communications Manager for a boutique Music & Arts Festival, and freelance marketing managerial roles. Working as a communications manager and on film sets means I am used to working in confidential environments. In these roles, I had to be flexible with my working hours, a skill I have translated into my general work ethic.I know how to read and use a call sheet, have worked in studios & varying on-location environments, worked long hours and learnt how important it is to think on my feet, think ahead, and problem solve. As a fast learner, I will run with any challenge I’m given, with enthusiasm! For my first film job, I independently managed a Craft Unit Truck. I had 3 days’ notice of my start date. The role involved organising food, coffee, tables, chairs and Ezi-up tents for all departments and extras on set, approximately 40 people a day. I had never worked in the industry before. With half a day of training, I was to manage this truck for two weeks. I pulled it off without the crew members knowing I’d never worked on set before. I continued working in various craft unit teams for the following year.Film sets often have highly pressurised atmospheres, where organisation, punctuality, & working well in a team well is incredibly important. Staying calm in pressurised situations is the only way to continue offering smooth, high-quality services.I am a self-starter with a proactive, creative approach to work. Once Covid-19 sent New Zealand into a prolonged lockdown, and film work was not possible, I worked on two freelance marketing projects. I'm organised, with strong prioritisation and time management skills. These skills strengthened as I simultaneously worked as communications manager for a boutique Music & Arts Festival, and on a marketing campaign for a pet food brand. I predominantly worked independently in my marketing roles, whilst liaising with my employers to ensure I was meeting, or exceeding, their expectations.I have strong oral & written communication and customer service skills, with close and critical attention to detail. Having worked in a variety of professional environments, I’ve developed a strong eagerness to learn, and a flexible & adaptable approach to new settings and projects. It also means I have experience building strong and trusting working relationships quickly with people from diverse backgrounds and differing levels in organisations.Whilst working as communications manager for Shipwrecked festival, I interviewed and wrote 36 personal biographies of the core crew. This experience really inspired me. Ever since, I’ve wanted to be involved in documenting and creating factual stories in all their shapes and forms. What’s more, I love to travel, to be thrown in the deep end and to learn and create stories. In 2017, I lived and worked on a safari lodge in Botswana for 2.5 months. This was an incredible and life-changing experience, being so close to animals and a landscape so different to the UK. I loved learning how to live in the bush and how to interact with those magnificent animals in the surrounding areas. I’d love to be a part of telling the lesser known, or unknown, stories about this magnificent world we live in.Whilst I’m looking for a runner role now, in the future I aspire to be a researcher. Working on the Craft Unit team as my first role in the Film & TV industry introduced me to the artistry and skill within the industry. I quickly fell in love with the variety of working environments, whilst working alongside incredibly hardworking, talented people. Getting a place as a runner would prove invaluable as I look to make my next steps towards working in this industry. Read Less
