Technology is evolving at an astounding speed in today’s digital era. The film industry is no different as it advances with innovations in technology every day. Now, to answer the question that’s been puzzling you, what exactly is a DIT? Known as digital imaging technicians, we play a huge role in crossing the bridge between creativity and modern technological applications. DITs hold responsibility for countless duties on the film set, transferring footage onto backups drives being one of them. As a result, DITs must be skilled technicians, communicators, thinkers, and analysts. Data wrangling and protection, supporting the DP, and dailies are the three key roles of a digital imaging technician. DITs have a wide range of tasks as the digital format grows further complex and dynamic. DITs are a distinct part of the film business, with obligations ranging from film organization, and signal integrity to even color correction on the set. I have a creative and innovative mindset as a digital imaging technician/data wrangler. I enjoy being a part of every facet of the camera crew and can proudly claim to have a good grasp on the knowledge as well as the dos and don’ts of the whole post-production process.
