After spending several years freelancing in East Africa, Alex returned to London in 2020 from where he now reports on stories around the world. Since covering the war in Nagorno-Karabakh for Getty Images in late 2020, Alex has dedicated himself to following the impact of Myanmar’s 2021 coup on the country’s ethnic minority regions, filing for Al Jazeera, Foreign Policy, The Guardian and Le Monde.In 2022 Alex’s work from Myanmar was awarded a gold award in the conflict journalism category at the Budapest International Foto Awards, and has been shortlisted at the Xposure International Photography Awards in the UAE. In 2021, his work was exhibited in Helsinki Photo Festival and he was shortlisted for the Bar Tur Photojournalist of the Year 2021 Award, as well as being a prize winner in the HIPA 2021 photography awards. In 2020 his work was exhibited at Helsinki Photo Festival and Photo IS:RAEAL. He was also an award winner in the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo contest. His work from South Sudan was screened at the 2020 edition of Visa Pour l’Image.Alex’s work has also been published by The Atlantic, BBC, ELLE, El Pais, Internazionale, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, VICE, The Washington Post and WIRED. UN and NGO clients of Alex have included IOM, Medair, MSF, NRC, UNICEF, War Child and WFP.Alex also teaches photography workshops with the Leica Akademie in London.
