After many years working in media-theatre sectors in Singapore, I arrived in London in 2017, and obtained an MFA in Actor Training and Coaching (with distinction) in 2019.Prior to London, I worked with a range of age groups and abilities including children, seniors with wheelchair abilities, and neurodiverse participants.Here are some snapshot highlights of relevant work:Jul-Aug 2021: I initiated and stepped into the role of a Mental Health First Aider and Wellbeing Facilitator for all cast and crew in an emotionally challenging short film, “Dysphoria” with embedded themes of abuse and suicide.Apr-Jun 2021: I worked on a digital drama series (6 episodes), “How We Met, Season 2” with UK cast and crew, and the Producer wrote the testimonial, “As an assistant director, Melissa exceeded our expectations, so much so, that when we asked her to fill in for the director, she did so with confidence and enthusiasm.”Feb 2020: I directed 4 short playlets (new writing) for an evening of Theatre, “Love Bites: 3rd Time Lucky”, produced by Spontaneous Productions.Jun 2007-2010 (Full-time at a production house): - Duties included tasks in Administration, Business Development, TV Production & Projects and Licensing Management in multi-media such as Books, DVDS, TV shows, Web, and other new media. - Coordinating Personnel for Offices in Norway, Shanghai and Singapore. - Achievements include Producer for “DOODLECHAMPS!” (13 eps X 23 min) a nationwide drawing competition for kids in Singapore, “Tutule” (34 eps X 24mins) a co-production between Shanghai Media Group and Earthtree. “Eid ul Fitr with Oistein” (52 eps X 5 min). - Key Organiser for PR Signing Ceremony and Children’s Arts Exhibition in Shanghai, while based in Shanghai for 5 months.2004 - 2007: Freelance Videographer, Studio Camera Operator, and Production Assistant.
