For over 20 years I’ve worked in the TV industry – from editing on various projects to directing crews of 40. I've been involved with projects across the factual spectrum from conceptualisation to completion – formats include documentaries, obs doc shows, formatted series and competition shows. I’m a passionate storyteller, and have researched, pitched, directed, produced, filmed and edited shows for broadcasters around the globe. Companies and broadcasters I’ve worked for include National Geographic, PBS, Disney, BBC Food, SABC, M-Net, et-v and many more.In my spare time I write novels, essays and articles – and have directed art shorts and music videos. My independent documentaries and art shorts have been screened at several film festivals.I have a PhD in Creative Writing. My first novel, The Sea of Wise Insects, won the University of Johannesburg Prize for Best Creative Debut. My second novel, The Artist Vanishes, was published by Penguin South Africa in 2021, and was longlisted for South Africa's most prestigious literary award, The Sunday Times Literary Award 2022.
