Previously, he was showrunner on the acclaimed six-part factual drama series ALEXANDER: THE MAKING OF A GOD for Netflix, which reached No.2 in 91 territories worldwide.
Prior to that, he directed two seasons of the award-winning drama series THE BAXTERS for MGM, the Emmy nominated miniseries THE BIBLE for History Channel and the 10-part series A.D. THE BIBLE CONTINUES for NBC. FLOOD was his feature debut for Lionsgate, starring Tom Hardy, Robert Carlyle, Sir Tom Courtenay, David Suchet & Joanne Whalley.
Tony’s other television credits include the Emmy nominated factual drama SUPERVOLCANO for BBC 1, the ITV sci-fi drama series PRIMEVAL andthe Emmy winning documentary THREADS OF LIFE for BBC 1. ANCIENT EGYPTIANS for Channel Four was his epic 4-part BAFTA winning factual drama series, while his miniseries NEANDERTHAL also for Channel Four was an RTS Award winner.
His directing career started in light entertainment, working on the iconic 90’s shows TFI FRIDAY & DON’T FORGET YOUR TOOTHBRUSH where he directed sketches with Cher, Michael Caine, Peter O’Toole, Sting and many more. He also presented on Channel Four’s TRAVELOGUE series and co-presented with Claudia Winkleman on Janet Street Porter’s LIVE TV.
With a reputation for bringing visual ambition and production value to his work, Tony is regularly engaged as a creative consultant on projects that aspire to raise the bar and deliver new forms of storytelling.
Most recently they include his collaboration with music luminary Van Morrison on a feature documentary celebrating the 50th anniversary of his album – Astral Weeks. He also developed Nat Geo’s CGI & VR spectacular EGYPT RISING, Ubisoft’s gaming-TV hybrid GUILLOTINE and natural history/drama hybrid PLANET OF THE ANTS for Discovery.
Born and raised in Toronto, he holds both Canadian & UK passports.
