Filmmaking is a passion turned into a career. I've always loved storytelling and film as the medium through which to do it. My dad always had cameras when I was growing up in Saudi Arabia and I would constantly 'borrow' them to film what was going on around us. My filmmaking career began in extreme sports in California making skate films for the top skating brands as well as the Extreme Sports Channel and Fuel TV. I then found a new passion in documentary making and joined Emmy award-winning 'Current TV' in London where I spent 4 years. Continuing my documentary and filmmaking passion in Africa for the next 3 years I created content for Al Jazeera, BBC, Uganda Tourism Board and many travel brands - highlights of which included a story on child soldiers returning from the LRA and filming with the gorillas in Bwindi's impenetrable forest. Inspired by the telling stories from the bush I created 'Something Ventured' with my wife as a passion project which we continue to run. Looking to take the next step in my filmmaking career I then joined the team at 'filmsbynomad' in Dubai in 2014 where we specialised in branded content, documentaries and TV series. Creating our own in-house sports entertainment TV series 'Fighting Fit' on ESPN and winning Broadcast Pro Awards for 'Best long-form production of the year' in 2017 and 'Production house of the year' in 2019. I am still as passionate as ever about filmmaking and telling real stories, whether it's for brands, people, or just because it needs to be told.
