I am versatile and organised self-shooting P/D (and more recently SP) with 22 years at BBC Studios.

At the moment I am mainly looking for P/D or Edit Producing roles. But happy entertaining SP roles as well.

I have produced and directed across many genres: presenter led, ‘as-live’, observational, and constructed narratives in a broad range of tones, from emotionally-charged single interviews (Freddie Knoller’s War) adrenaline-pumped team adventure (Expedition Volcano), rip-roaring history (Armada) and high concept science (Science’s Greatest Mysteries).
 
I am skilled at obtaining access and maintaining long term relationships with contributors and corporations (Tim Peake, British Antarctic Survey) and have happily worked with many presenters (Brian Cox, Dan Snow, Xand Van Tulleken, Aldo Kane). I've managed large teams (Ancient Powers) as well as working alone as a self-shooting director (Sky at Night).

My more recent experience as SP has sharpened my ability to shape and craft an engaging narrative as well as honing my ability to manage a substantial CGI budget and multiple edits.
 
I am well-travelled, having filmed on all 7 continents, in over 20 US states, and over 30 countries. Many have been difficult remote locations and several classified as hostile environments. This means my ability to write a Risk Assessment is rock solid. Filming has taken me camping inside a volcano, sailing the Southern Ocean to Antarctica, dancing naked with an Amazonian tribe, walking the Yukon trail (and finding gold!), firing Elizabethan cannonballs at a pig carcass, hearing a Holocaust survivor’s testimony, witnessing rocket launches in Russia and America, eating freshly slaughtered reindeer testicle and making a pilgrimage through ‘the mind of Buddha’. 
 
I have also spent many productive months in development, helping obtain commissions for several BBC Science Unit Productions (Dinosaurs: The Final Day & Science’s Greatest Mysteries) Read Less
