sculpting, casting and working to a deadline. Many of these projects have been focused on exploring
modelmaking in the stop motion industry, including my Final Major Project. This has enabled me to
better understand how the puppets are made and involved me developing the relatable skills, such
as designing and assembling my own armatures, improving my ability and confidence in sculpting
using different materials to create a accurate portrayal of my character designs. I made moulds of
these sculpts out of a variety of materials such as fiberglass, silicone and plaster. These different
moulds allowed me to experiment with casting in tin and platinum cure silicones, learning which
shore hardness of silicone would be most appropriate for my projects, as well as allowing me to use
pigments to colour and paint my silicone puppets. Whilst creating these puppets I also got to
experiment with my love of character design, which I expanded on by researching the importance of
good character design in stop motion for my second year essay. Since leaving University I have
continued to sculpt and design my own characters.I am confident that I can bring these skills to any project to help bring great stop motion characters to the big screen. I am eager to carry on improving and learning new processes and modelmaking techniques to become a better stop motion puppet maker.
