My name is Andrew O'Donnell. I am currently a freelance artist and animator. I also design my own characters and create my own animated films.I have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and a Masters degree in Animation, for which I received a 1st for my final project, the animated short Gaius Imperator.I am an ardent fan of cinema and animation. Since I was very young I have drawn my own cartoon characters and made my own animated comic books. My earlier works were influenced by such comic books as Calvin and Hobbes (mainly Spaceman Spiff who is part of Calvin’s imagination) and Tin Tin. The world and characters I created have also been largely based on science fiction such as the Star Wars and Star Trek films. I recently am making a short film based on my comic book idea.More recently I have become interested in darker, historical and intellectual pieces. I have recently created a graphic novel based on the hypothetical rule of a continuing Roman Empire. One of my strongest influences in the graphic novel genre is V for Vendetta in particular, but also the Batman graphic novel style has been of great interest to me.The plot of my graphic novel was taken directly from ancient sources with some variations for artistic effect. It centres on a young, newly crowned emperor who is beginning to show himself as a despot and the reaction from the political class that challenge his power. From this graphic novel I made the short film Gaius Imperator.I generally work in 2D, but I incorporate 3D elements into my films.​ Read Less
