Read MoreMy name is Ann Igelström and I want to restart my career after parental leave. I live in Edinburgh where, since 2013, I have devoted most of my time to raising my three young children. During my time on parental leave I completed a PhD in screenplay analysis, started a script editing company, presented research papers at International Conferences and guest lectured at Napier University’s MA screenwriting course.Currently, I am the Early Career Representative for the International Screenwriting Research Network and the co-editor of ‘The Bloomsbury Handbook of International Screenplay Theory’ due to be released next year.As much as I have cherished sharing the precious early years of my children’s lives at home, I am now eager to move beyond voluntary work into a job that furthers my career and offers new challenges and opportunities. My heart belongs to storytelling in the broadest sense of the word. I have been fascinated by screenwriting since my own early years and have spent many years (within academia and, more recently, in a more commercial context) researching and analysing screenplays in different development stages, different genres and for different medias. I now wish to use my experience and skills to make a start in the industry and be part of a production where I can build on my strengths and progress my career. My main contributions to a team are that I am easy to work with and that I take on new challenges in a structured and efficient manner. I am adept at working independently but thrive when my work also involves social interactions and collaborations. Being part of an international network, including personal responsibility for operating their online presence, I am familiar with most well-known digital platforms and understand the ever-increasing importance of social media.
