I am an award winning writer director of some twenty five years standing. My company, along with indie 'Tilt Content,' produced a 30 minute pilot, called "Film Club." The idea was written by Dean Cavanagh, and directed by myself. It stars Shauna Macdonald, David Threlfall, Shayani Gupta, Sophie Melville, Roger Evans and Bonnie Prince Bob, The performers play versions of themselves in this scabrous comedy about a group of celebs who start a film club. They meet to discuss "Citizen Kane." It soon becomes clear they are meeting to discuss anything but Welle's masterpiece. The tone of the conversation soon heads to the gutter, and valiant chairperson Shauna, tries her best to keep the conversation on track.

Our pilot was made by pulling favours with actors, and for the price of two hard drives. I was looking for the right editor for the piece. I had worked with Carmen and had been impressed by Carmen, on two seasons of Welsh Noir thriller "Bang." Carmen grabbed our project by the scruff of the neck, and absolutely nailed every comic beat. The coverage she was given was as follows - one pass, as per the script, with all six characters seen in gallery mode on Zoom. The second pass was shot in Zoom single speaker mode, in which the actors were invited to improvise. Carmen expertly combined both passes, bringing a wonderful and mischievous comic timing to the performances. She also found the emotional beats, delivering a wonderfully observed piece of iconoclastic absurdism. Both Dean and I were utterly thrilled with Carmen's intelligent and witty edit. If you get the chance to work with Carmen, grab her with both hands. You will not regret it.
