In order to add some colour to my experience and outline key aspects of my current role, plus a splattering of some work past history hold on to your seat and read on.I was baptised into the arena of design, marketing and communications many years ago (more than I care to remember) when people were reliant on rub downs and waxing machines as opposed to what version of Adobe they were using.I cut my teeth after completing the relevant design qualifications moving initially in the print industry coming up through the ranks and learning the craft the hard way however I soon transitioned across to the stereotypical design agency as a junior designer and slowly expanded my experience and skills which enabled me to move up through the ranks fairly rapidly.Since those early days I have had the pleasure of working for a number of leading design agencies across the south west and London as well as running my own design partnership for over 12 years.I have also been part of and lead in-house teams helping with transformation change, the past, present and future stuff most of this has been for large national high-street consumer chains as well as a good mix of global brands (FMCG, the finance sector, retail and charity).Over the last 7 years although still very active with rolling my sleeves up and being involved in doing some of the grunt work, my skills has evolved and encompassed the management of teams through online and offline communication channels, brand development, mentoring, art directing, social media, on boarding of external suppliers and agencies, being main client lead, running project and workflow for internal teams as well as doing all the hidden bits and bobs like budgets,
work-flow, client liaison and project management/delivery, financial planning & forecasting, people & team management, process mapping and wider team re-structuring - the stuff that keeps the wheels on the cart, engages client/staff retention and gets everyone paid at the end of the day.My current role is global charity based, (Animal welfare and guardianship) where I am currently employed as the Design and Brand Manager, a truly multifaceted role at the best of times with global reach/scope and as such it demands exceptionally strong operational management skills & experience in order to ensure we are both agile and responsive to the needs and demands of our supporters and also the welfare groups associated and partnered with us.
I currently lead the internal design team and act as the main brand champion and safeguard for the organisation liaising with multiple internal teams and work streams both in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Italy where I act as the voice of clarity in order to establish commercial middle ground and make sure the proposition of the charity is in keeping with our target audience and overarching vision and charity proposition.Regards
Paul
