My obsession with the mechanics of a Comedic Story-telling began at six years old, marvelling at the character comedy of Brendan Grace and his ability to hold a room through the communal power of a story. Having performed stand-up since the age of 14, I have spent over a decade honing the art of timing and observation, eventually integrating these comedic foundations into long-form narrative during my MA in Theatre Practice. My work sits firmly in the dark comedy space, using humour as a 'Trojan horse' to interrogate complex social structures. This is best exemplified in my most significant project to date, The Lads—a biting social satire and semi-immersive experience that explores the absurdity and 'silence' of toxic masculinity. Recently backed by a LAMDA MishMash seed commission, the play uses an outsider’s lens to find the comedic friction in male friendships. The next stage for the story is to turn it into a T.V. Series focusing on each characters perspectives. Currently, I am developing a new comedy-drama centred on my grandparents’ cross-cultural relationship. By focusing on the comedic miscommunications and linguistic clashes between two differing dialects (Irish and French), I aim to create work that is both deeply personal and universally funny, proving that even in the most disparate cultures, the 'common language' is often a shared sense of the absurd Read Less
