Hi.  I'm an award-winning PD with the all the diversity of experience you’d expect from delivering an eclectic slate of 30+ films: personal journeys, history, drama doc, art, culture, politics and social issues. I can self-shoot and I'm a CAA licensed drone op/owner. I speak fluent French (ex-resident), I have a current US I-visa and I'm Hostile Environments trained. I can edit decent assemblies on Avid or Resolve. I live in Scotland but I can also base myself in London.

From 2005 to 2020 I was a staff PD in BBC Factual. I earned a reputation for delivering fascinating and well-told stories, with and without presenters.  I've made popular history like "Scotland from the Sky" (4eps across 3 seasons 3x60, BBC2).   I've also made very well-received single docs such as "The Machine Gun", and the "Rise and Fall of Timex".  (Both BBC2).  For BBC 4, I PD'd the biopic of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the art collections of Henry VIII.  I made three of the BBC's Great War centenary titles. 

From March '22 to Sept '24 I worked for OR Media on a blue-chip series on the politics of the Middle East. (NDA, intended for international release 2025).  I was initially hired to work on one film and the company asked me to stay for four.  We filmed breath-taking colour sequences reflecting everyday life and culture in a fascinating and volatile region.  Combined with shooting impossibly sensitive interviews with high-level contributors around the world, notably with senior politicians and diplomats.  

I structure and write clear, creative and exec-friendly scripts and deliver them on time.  On location, I can deliver stunning sequences, absorbing encounters, powerful sit-down interviews, as well as unscripted moments of quiet reflection.  A brief showreel is embedded on this page, there are longer clips on my website.    

Away from work I’d confess to being a history nerd, I consume shed loads of books and podcasts. I also take photographs, fly drones and cycle round nearby villages. Finally, a previous employer had provided me an Arabic tutor and I’ve struggled on with that, hoping to carry on to a qualification of some sort.
