She is part of the Labour Future Candidate Programme 2021/22 cohort.She is a keen sustainability advocate and co-founded and runs a Plastic Free Group.She is a Supervising Civil Engineer & member of the ICE Thames Valley, ICE Policy and External Affairs and ICE Communication Committees.She is an ICE's Water Superheroes aptly named Eco Warrior (previously Angel).In addition, she is also a STEM ambassador and mentor and coach encouraging other to take up careers in Civil Engineering.In her previous roles, she was a project manger and the BIM lead for the Environment Agency's Collaborative Delivery Framework Eastern Hub (Thames Valley, East Anglia and Herts and North London).Before that, she was a Graduate Civil Engineer on the Environment Agency's training scheme where she undertook internal and external placements to support her development. This enabled her to sign off her ICE training agreement in 2.5 years and achieve CEng in 3 years and gain the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) and APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ).During this time, Ayo was selected as one of Professor Lord Robert Mair's Future Leaders for his year as President of the ICE.She was also nominated for the Top 50 Women in Engineering under 35 (WE50) initiative run by The Telegraph in partnership with The Women's Engineering Society (WES) (June 2017).Ayo graduated from Plymouth University with a MEng (hons) in Civil and Coastal engineering. There she also studied Mandarin and completed an exchange to Shanghai Maritime University. During her studies, she undertook industrial visits, residential courses, summer placements and a year-long placement with Halcrow, a CH2M Hill company (Now Jacobs).Ayo loves the performing arts and developed her talent for dance, drama and singing by taking classes and attending a Saturday stage school. She loves fitness and supporting great causes as a volunteer or fundraiser. She has raised funds for several charities and previously using her platform as a beauty queen to support this (Miss Plymouth 2012/2013, Miss Sussex 2013/14, Miss East Sussex 2014/15 and finalist for Miss Galaxy England, Miss Earth and Miss Great Britain).
