Recently featured on the cover of Composer Magazine for his work, Louis J. Butler pka Louis VI (Musician as well as Zoology Graduate) has rapidly risen as a unique young Composer & Climate Filmmaker breaking barriers of being mixed-race and coming into composing to picture from an unconventional background as an inner city rapper/producer & jazz musician.The London born composer/artist recently composed all the music for the Premier League #NoRoomForRacism campaign, was made the face of the main Footlocker Campaign in 2019 & has composed music for film including adverts for NIKE (which won top pick on NOWNESS), AZIMO (Put forward for Ad Awards for the Music) Tanqueray Gin, Puma, Footlocker, Whistles Clothing & a self-directed short film called Lonely Road of the Dreamer shot in South Africa.He is also a science Presenter/Filmmaker; recently being invited to Climate Lab by DocSoc for his film 'The World Is (Y)ours' aiming to get young people of colour at the forefront of the climate conversation. Aimed to encourage young people of colour in Britain, notoriously left out of the climate conversation although it is their ancestral homes that are on the front line, to vote based on climate change. He wrote the creative, composed the music & presented the Documentary to camera.With a background in Zoology, Science & climate change activism, working on documentaries and films that focus on the natural world more, especially now from a POC perspective, is something he really wants to direct my efforts towards, using his unique background as a young mixed-race rapper that's also got a strong background in science and zoology.Over the last year, he's taken to the virtual stage of Climate Change & Environmental speaking, being asked to join panels on Climate Change & race in the UK, to speak at the House Of Lords on behalf of Lord Bird for Climate Action on the Future Generations Bill during Wellbeing Week at the end of Jan, & has become an ambassador for 'My School, My Planet' which aims to bring more nature & climate education into the UK Curriculum, especially in low-income areas.He also was a contributor to Frank Ocean's 'Boys Don't Cry' Magazine. Being a not just a rapper & producer but a multi-instrumentalist, working closely with London’s south London jazz scene has meant he’s earned a special respect amongst some of London’s great Jazz musicians having worked with Joe Armon-Jones, Moses Boyd, Oscar Jerome, Tom Misch, Poppy Ajudha, Nubya Garcia, Stan Wickham, David Mrakpor, as well as some legends like George Melly before his passing. Having recently released an EP with his cult famous group OthaSoul, he’s currently working on his 2nd solo album due for 2021.He also is an accomplished Voice Over Artist & has production experience, working as a Runner on Promo/Advert/Film sets for 2 years back in 2015 and working his way up to Production Assistant with Tom Birmingham at which point he became a Composer.
